For Anyone Who Still Looks At My Page
I’m keepin it real this summer. I’m playing alot of my old FPS’s and sports. Waiting to see how good the I-phone will be. Also doing some light summer reading with the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. Can’t wait for all the O8 sports titles to come out.
I’d like to touch on my book for a second because it relates with how America seems to be declining in a way. First you have the corrupt political system putting out a bunch of crap out and nothing happening. Second they had outsiders come into their country and take away their resources so the regular people are unhappy. Third the country is divided on everything and divided we fall.
More in depth look at my points. The first comment is refering to how in Roman times the senate all they wanted to do is stay in power and they were ruthless in pulling it out assasinations ect… With the Emporers it gets worse some were completley perverted don’t want to go into detail. Others were in it for themselves building huge palaces or armies of housing for citizens of Rome. The last type are a bunch of mama’s boy don’t want to do anything. By the end the only way anyone could get control was by bieng a killer/torture just over all mean guy. Now adays we hear about political sex scandals, fraud, big corporations being paid off for supporting a persons campaign, and how nothing will stop it. That mostly is on the GOP side the democrats are just a bunch of big mouthed wusses who don’t do anything to help our country. We have to get out of Iraq in one huge wave and let terrorists take over the middle-east. Pelosi or however you spell her name said she do so much to pass bills in the first meeting of congress well I haven’t heard anything happen yet.
For my second point the romans let in all these outside cultures which detracted from there overall cultural identity which made the population harder to control aand support because of to much demand and not enough supply. Today we are paying the price for illegal immigration because we have to pay for their health care without them paying a dime and are food supply will start to decline with an uncontrolled population rise.
The roman empire was divided into to seprate parts the eastern and western roman empire. They west fell quicker than a bag of rocks in the ocean with barbarians invading everywhere, emporers that were cowards and they had no military to fight the horde. The eastern empire took about 1000 more years to fall because of some average emporers and they were basically the gate way to the east and all the trade going from Europe to Asia went through their lands so they had money to spend so they hired mercinaries to do their biding instead of a profesional army. It also didn’t help that the crusaders came and ransacked them before the empire fell for good when the ottoman turks invade. Today we are divide so badly on everything with the two party system . I know some people that are republicans that won’t even listen to them and vise-verse. Always some group in our country has to oppose what another group put forth. We are a country divide right, left, east, west, north, and south. The only way America in my eyes is if we stand toghether strong and don’t internally destory ourselves.
If I offend anyone with this it is certainly not my intentions to offend any person or group. I only want to point out the similarities between the fall of the Roman Empire and the decline of America.
Animal Farm; Pigs
The pigs in my life seem to be some of my teachers. Some of my teachers come late to class for the simplest reasons. Then they make us do a bunch of work that has to be finished by the end of class, but since they gave us the assignment late,we get out late and we can’t say anything or they get mad and give us demerits. If they had been on time in the first place we would get out on time. Also they complain about grading papers on what they never taught us because they were late. The teachers that give us the most grief are the ones with a key to grade with, not the ones that have to grade writing assignments without one correct answer.(Which seems more difficult to me.) They act like we are the other farm animals that are not sophisticated enough to have a say. All we do is chant like robots are “Four legs good, Two legs bad.” and some of us say ” I will work harder. The teachers are always right”.
Which brings me to the even bigger pigs, the administrators. Some off them only listen to themselves think and brush off anybody else’s ideas unless they are good and could benefit themselves, and then go lower and claim the ideas as their own. They are by the school year decreasing are freedom and increasing their power over us. Increasing our stress decreasing theirs. Making this school from a democracy to a dictatorship.
Don’t get me wrong, I love this school and the teachers and administrators are great. Still some of the teachers abuse the freedom at this school at the expense of the students. I think though the students are the ones that bring it upon themselves. Some just abuse the privileges that this school offers. So the administrators are forced to crack down on all the students even though only a few of the students abuse the freedom. To get back our freedom the students have to earn it. Still the teachers being late for the wrong reasons can not be blamed on us and is setting a bad example for us to follow. Students though often do the same as these teachers they come in ten minutes late disrupt the entire class for five minutes and then the teacher gets mad and yells at us the rest of the period and more than likely keeps us late. Both are the same both have to change with more incentives to be on time and more monitoring on the teachers perhaps. ( I don’t know what the policy for teachers is(please explain if you can Mr. Amico)). Or the students could be better and make the teacher want to come.
Things have to change with both the student body and the teachers. Both should be more dedicated to thier job and improving the school to gain back freedoms lost before my time at this school. With that everybody is happier with each other and their is less strain on the school administration. This is so we can bring down the rasied pedistals of teachers and administrators down to the level of the students, unlike in other schools where the teachers and administrators try and get the highest pedastil as they can
The Trial
It was a great creative idea of a class project but it was a disorganized mess most of the time. I think we should of had more time to work on it. Also some people didn’t do their share on both teams. I liked the time schedule because we got out early. I liked not having to write an essay or take a test. The group was a disater as mentioned before so I would make it a single grade. There should be an incentive to win like a week off of class. There should be a rubric. The witnesses should have to give in depth answer instead of. Yeah, I guess so, and mabey.

TKM 2/15/07 2 days after the day before V day
Some of the similarities between Tom and Mayelle are they both are hurt with Tom having his hand stuck in a cotton gin and being afraid of Mr. Ewell. While Mayella she was beaten physically and emotionally by Mr. Ewell. They both lived in poverty and near each other. “ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE” Gates of Hell in Dante’s The Inferno describes both their mental states
They are different because ones black and the others white. Tom has friends and a loving family while Mayelle dosen’t have either in fact she doesn’t know what friends are.
Tom has a mutated arm. Tom is married and is a man. This is getting to be random.
They both have the same amount of similarities and differences. They are mostly comparable to two different species of Mockingbird they are in the same boat but still have there differences. Some wise English teacher taught me that. (defiantly not Mr. Amico). Tom was in a better situation than Mayelle until the trail if you think about. Another way of putting it is that there are as many different folks as Mockingbirds.
P.S. I was Waiting till someone got killed in the book.

I think that situation is realistic for the the time period and place. You have to remember that back in the 1930’s times were different. People were nicer and knew everyone very well. For example at the begining of the book Scout was able to tell the teacher why the Ewells and Cuninghams acted like they did. ( I should mention that I am talking within the same race.) Maycomb is a small tight nit community. In most places with a mob like this they have no morales and wouldn’t think twice about shooting a father in front of his kids or the kids themselves.
Another reason is Scout is nieve in a good way. If she had relized what was going on at the time she might not of gone out there. I think that the mob either realized the innocence of Scout which brought out the goodness in their hearts and made them feel guilty,or with the standerds of the day and not want to do anything bad in front of this little girl.
Also I picked up that Atticus had a gang protecting him and Tom from harm. With Scout talking so much they might of feared that Atticus’ gang might of showed up and was hiding in the darkness. Another thing is that Mr. Ewell wasn’t with the mob HMMM…… One more thing which adds to Scouts innocence is that she was only taught to see the good in people not the evil like with Artur Radley and Mr. Cunningham by Atticus.

I think that Mocking birds represent blacks and how they never hurt us they always try and help us.
The quote says that you should not hurt anything that can only do good and not evil.
The importance of point of view is shown when Uncle Jack hits Scout without hearing her side of the story until later and if he had heard her side of the story earlier he might not of hit her and hit Francis.
